From Email Address - Frequently Asked Questions

Activity Exchange allows you to change your clubs From email address.

Q. What is the Activity Exchange From email address?
A. Activity Exchange can send emails on behalf of your club. An example would be an email to say that a new Activity has been added. These emails have their 'From' email address set to a club specific email address rather than a generic one.

Q. Why would I want to change my Clubs From email address?
A. The From email address can become known to spammers as has happened in a very small number of cases. If this happens the email address quickly becomes unusable and will have to be blacklisted. This means that any replies sent to it will not be received and Activity Exchange cannot pass them back to the club. By slightly altering the from email address this problem can be avoided.

Q. What is my Clubs From email address set to by default?
A. By default this is set to your Web Name on Activity Exchange followed by '@ActivityExchange.com'. The Web Name is simply your club name with any spaces and some other characters taken out and with some characters changed. It is the last part of your club Web Address on Activity Exchange. For example the fictional club 'Any Old Club" has a Web Name of 'AnyOldClub' and so emails sent on its behalf will, by default, be from "AnyOldClub@ActivityExchange.com".

Q. What is my Clubs From email address set to now?
A. To find this out go to Edit your clubs page (you will need the Master password). Look for the field called "From Email". Below this you should see your current From email setting. Another way to find out is to wait until Activity Exchange sends you an email and see what the From email address is set to.

Q. Can I set my Clubs From Email Address to anything?
A. Yes and No. You are restricted if you want to have a From email address that ends in ActivityExchange.com. We couldn't allow clubs to have a From email address of "Sales@ActivityExchange.com" or "Accounts@ActivityExchange.com" for example as that would be misleading. You can have anything you want on the left of the @ symbol as long as it starts with your clubs Web Name. That is if your club has a Web Name of "AnyOldClub" and so a default From Email of "AnyOldClub@ActivityExchange.com" then you could add a suffix to the first part, such as "2" so that emails were sent from "AnyOldClub2@ActivityExchange.com".

Q. What if I don't want the From address to end in Activity Exchange.com?
A. In this case you can set it to whatever you want. For example you could set it to Alerts@MyClub.com if you so wished.

Q. How can I make this change?
A. Simply edit your clubs details (you will need the Master password) and set the From email to what you want. If you want to keep the From email as ending with "@ActivityExchange.com" then put in what you want as a suffix to the Clubs Web Name. If you do not want it to end like that then put the full email address in, as in "Alerts@MyClub.com". To make this easier for you, the Edit Club web page will show you the final result as you type it in.
