Test Clubs - Frequently Asked Questions

  Activity Exchange Test Club feature.

Q. What is a Test Club?
A. A Test Club is a special setting on a Club that causes it and its Activities to not be visible to the casual observer.

Q. What is this feature for?
A. There are some reasons why you might want a Test Club. First of all you can use it to set up a Training Club that you and other people can use to practice using Activity Exchange. Secondly you can use a Test Club as a way of building up your Clubs information on Activity Exchange prior to going Public. You could also use it as a way of parking your Club out of sight of the casual observer.

Q. How well hidden are Test Clubs?
A. Hardly at all. You can still get straight to them by entering the Clubs AccessCodes or by using any of the normal web addresses. The same goes for Activities and Albums. The difference is that the Club will not normally show in the Club Index and its Activities will not normally show in the listings of Activities.

Q. Can I make Test Clubs and their Activities visible just like other Clubs?
A. Yes you can. To do this you need to put Activity Exchange into "Test Mode". There are two ways of doing this. The first is to just use a AccessCode that belongs to a Test Club. The other way is to typing the special keyword "TESTMODE" into any AccessCode box (upper or lower case, doesn't matter). Doing either of these things will cause the "Activity Exchange" header on each page to change and Test Clubs and their Activities will be visible just like any other club. You can get out of Test Mode by going to Clear/Logoff on the Home page.

Q. What is Test Mode?
A. When Activity Exchange is in Test Mode it does not hide Test Clubs or their Activities. They are visible in exactly the same way as if they were not Test Clubs.

Q. How can I tell if Activity Exchange is in Test Mode?
A. At the top of the screen, each side of the "Activity Exchange" header, you will see the phrase "Test Mode" when Activity Exchange is in Test Mode.

Q. How can I get out of Test Mode?
A. You can get out of Test Mode by going to Clear/Logoff from the Home page and clicking on "Exit Test Mode". Alternatively you can wait until your Browser Session expires or simply close down youur browser and start it up again.

Q. Will a Test Clubs Activities be visible?
A. Activities are linked to from the lists of Activities. Unless someone specifically looks for the Test Clubs Activities these will not normally show and so links to them will not be provided. Activities will still be as visible as their individual settings allow, if you know their web address (and they are not hidden) they will still show.

Q. Will a Test Clubs Albums be visible?
A. As these are only linked to via the Clubs Home Page on Activity Exchange (which will not normally be visible) these will not normally be visible. Anyone can still get to them using their web address if known.

Q. Will emails still be sent and received?
A. Yes. This will not affect email at all. They will work normally.

Q. How can I set up a new Test Club?
A. Very easy. Simply Add a Club and on the form for the Club details tick the checkbox "Test Club".

Q. How can a make a Test Club into a normal club and vice-versa?
A. Go to the Clubs Home Page on Activity Exchange and click on "Edit Club". Click the "Options" button, change the setting of the Test Club checkbox and save the changes..
